Explosion Protection Document (ATEX)

An explosion protection document must be prepared if employees may be exposed to explosion hazards caused by flammable liquids, gases, or dust.

The explosion protection document is prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Government Decree 576/2003 (Decree on the Prevention of Hazards from Explosive Atmospheres to Employees). The preparation of the explosion protection document includes:

  • Assessment of the ignition properties of explosive atmospheres
  • Evaluation of explosion hazards and ignition risk
  • Preparation of area classifications (area classification drawings)
  • Clarifying photographs of area classification sites
  • Area map of Ex-sites
  • Detailed assessment of ignition risks of equipment, where necessary
  • Measures to reduce ignition risks and manage possible consequences
  • Definition of administrative measures in collaboration with the area owner
  • Area classifications are illustrated with area classification drawings, and the locations of classified areas are marked on the site’s layout plan. The risk assessment and area classification drawings are accompanied by illustrative photographs of the sites.
