First periodic inspection

Before the pressure equipment is put into productive use, it must undergo the first periodic inspection, known as the commissioning inspection.

  • confirm the operational values of the pressure equipment
  • determine the type and timing of the next periodic inspection
  • check the compliance of markings, user manuals, and other documents for the pressure equipment
  • verify the safe use of the pressure equipment and its safe operation within the system to which it is connected
  • ensure that the operator has sufficient qualifications and expertise
  • check the functional safety of the automation
  • assess the suitability of the pressure equipment for outdoor use

Additional measures for boiler plants:

  1. the general arrangements of the boiler plant ensure that the conditions for the safe use of the boiler are appropriate;
  2. a hazard assessment has been conducted as stipulated in Section 65 of the Pressure Equipment Act;
  3. the equipment, control location, and supervision of the steam and hot water boiler meet the requirements set out in Sections 13–15 and Section 75 of the Pressure Equipment Act;
  4. in the event of operational disturbances, the system directs or can be directed to a safe state;
  5. the pressure relief that occurs during operational disturbances causes as little damage as possible.
