Supplier evaluations

In subcontracting, the supply chain plays a significant role in the quality of the final product. Purchasing is easy, often easier than doing it oneself — Or is it? In practice, the buyer must establish a communication, production, and supply chain that functions at least as well as what is required for the production of the products themselves.

Supplier evaluation helps identify deficiencies and necessary areas for development in the production and supply chain from the very beginning of the collaboration. In the initial phase, supplier evaluation can be used.

Companies are obligated to monitor and verify externally produced products or services as part of their supplier selection process. During the collaboration, the main focus of supplier evaluations is on identifying root causes of deviations that cause problems and on continuous improvement of operations.

Audits of suppliers and subcontractors consist of planning, scoping, execution, reporting, and follow-up actions. The planning and targeting of audits, as well as the selection of companies to be audited, are carried out in cooperation with the client. Audits focus not only on management and production control but also specifically on technical assessments (welding, pressure equipment manufacturing, metal processing, prefabrication, surface treatment, assembly). A successful supplier audit provides a comprehensive picture of the supplier’s operations, their ability to produce compliant products, and potential issues at various stages of production.
