Commissioning and periodic inspections of liquefied gas facilities

A liquefied gas facility*, which operates on a large scale, must be inspected before being put into operation. The inspection determines that the facility is safe for use and complies with the requirements of the Chemical Safety Act and the Liquefied Gas Safety Regulation.

Periodic inspections of liquefied gas facilities are conducted every four years. For facilities containing at least 5 tons but less than 50 tons of liquefied gas, the inspection is carried out by an approved inspection body. Facilities with a minimum of 50 tons are inspected by the Safety and Chemicals Agency.
