When handling and storing chemicals and flammable liquids in industrial settings, care and caution must be exercised to prevent personal injuries, environmental damage, and property loss. Several laws, regulations, and decrees govern these activities.

The manufacturer or importer must apply for structural approval for individual tanks if they are not manufactured in accordance with tank standards. The design and structural inspections carried out by Insteam Oy ensure that the tanks being manufactured comply with structural regulations. These so-called storage tanks must undergo periodic inspections at intervals deemed safe. The condition assessments of tanks in use can be performed in collaboration between Insteam inspectors and the customer. For significant repair and modification work, a statutory structural inspection is always required, conducted by an approved inspection body. In most cases, a repair plan must be pre-approved by the inspection body.
