General information
The following procedure describes how the manufacturer ensures and declares that the pressure equipment or assembly they produce complies with the requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED). The Notified Body, Tarkes Inspection, issues a certificate of conformity for the pressure equipment it inspects before the manufacturer makes their declaration of conformity. The manufacturer then affixes the CE mark to the pressure equipment, accompanied by Tarkes Inspection Oy’s Notified Body identification number.
Procedure
1. Application
The customer submits an application form using Tarkes Inspection Oy's document template (for either a single piece of equipment or an assembly). For assemblies, both forms must be completed.
2. Application receipt
Once the application is received from the manufacturer or their representative, Tarkes Inspection records and stores the application documents in its electronic database and confirms the order.
3. Preliminary assessment of the application
A preliminary assessment is conducted to ensure the pressure equipment's conformity can be evaluated under Module G, verifying that the basic information and necessary documentation are attached to the application.
4. Design review
Based on the drawings and supporting documents, the conformity of the design is evaluated. Tarkes Inspection issues a certificate of approval for the design review, detailing the assessment results. The design review certificate is issued to the applicant and archived on Tarkes Inspection’s server along with the application.
5. Final evaluation
A final inspection of the pressure equipment is carried out to visually verify, along with reviewing the attached documents, that the requirements have been met. Inspections conducted during manufacturing may be considered at this stage. If necessary for safety reasons, the final inspection may cover both the internal and external parts of the equipment during the manufacturing phase (for example, if a later inspection would no longer be feasible).
6. Certificate of conformity
The Notified Body, Tarkes Inspection, issues a written certificate of conformity once all evaluations and partial inspections have been satisfactorily completed. The certificate is sent to the applicant and archived on Tarkes Inspection’s server along with the application. The manufacturer then affixes Tarkes Inspection’s Notified Body identification number 2545 next to the CE mark.
